Discuss your deck specifications

Start with a drawing, a sample or the features you need to check.

Construction, pressing, shaping, hole work, sanding and surface treatment each affect a different part of a deck design. Start with your drawing or sample and the features that matter most. We can identify the relevant operations and set a focused question for the first physical sample.

02 / 08Define the buildDefine the build

Decide whether the build is a deck, decorated board or complete setup.

A deck blank, decorated board and complete setup call for different work. First define the deck's construction and geometry. Then add the graphic, finish or component decisions that apply to your project, so the sample review has a clear scope.

03 / 08Layer preparationMaterial / 01

Construction begins with material and shape together.

The intended profile helps frame veneer selection and layer preparation. Review the actual layer order alongside its corresponding formed blank to discuss how the construction relates to the shape you want. Material species, ply count and performance requirements stay in the project specification.

Pressing brings the prepared layers into a deck profile before later shaping. Compare the press or release step with the corresponding formed blank and your intended contour. The physical sample gives you a specific profile to inspect and discuss.

05 / 08GeometryGeometry / 03

Check the outline and mounting interface on the real deck.

CNC shaping and hole work turn the agreed geometry into an outline and mounting pattern. Compare the cut or drilled deck with your reference dimensions, then identify any outline or mounting point that needs adjustment before the next version.

Next: Review finish and graphics.

06 / 08Surface workSurface / 04

Approve finish and graphic work as distinct steps.

Sanding and surface preparation come before the chosen finish. Screen, transfer or UV graphics add a separate appearance decision based on your artwork and board surface. Review placement, colour relationship and edges on a physical decorated sample.

Next: Review the inspection points.

Check the deck at the right stages.

XBound's process includes checks of materials, work in progress, finished appearance, sampled dimensions and packing. Compare the agreed sample with the checkpoints relevant to your order. Where a measured result or test report matters, review the actual record alongside it.
